Items needed for this project:
- Empty toilet paper roll
- Peanut butter - your favorite kind
- Bird Seed
- A tree
- Some helpers to clean up the spills
So you take the roll and some peanut butter.
Slather on the pb
Roll it in bird seed
Get your helpers ready. This will require no effort as they should have already arrived for duty.
This first part was super easy.
Somehow hang your feeders in the tree. This is the tricky part. I had seen on Pinterest or somewhere to just slide the roll over a branch. Yeah, well, it doesn't work very well while trying to hold two rolls and fend off the overeager helpers.
There's a lot of leaves and little branches on the end of a tree branch. We had an old squirrel corn holder chain thingie, so I slid the rolls on there and hung it as high as I could without a ladder. It ended up a little squished and messy.
Later I thought of a good idea. I cut a slit down the side of one roll and wrapped it around the branch instead of sliding it.
Other than getting it to stay on the tree, a major problem I foresee is ants. I had rested one of the rolls on this branch while I was maneuvering the chain thingie, and some peanut butter got smeared. When I went out to implement my slit idea, it was covered in ants.
I'm hoping that my tallest helper won't be able to reach it. My shortest will give it her all though! She is already cleaning up after the spills.
Fuji gladly excepted the task of licking the pb off the butter knife. He is a champion at that (really, he was in a contest and won a prize!). Here's the professional photo of his accomplishment with his eyes focused on the task:
I hope the birds (and the ants) appreciate it. I know my helpers and I had a good time trying it out.
TP Roll Update
Looks like the ants enjoy the feeders more than the birds. Well, at least you know now.
I give it 1 button up - and only because my helpers and I had fun making it
Neck update
will now come at the end of my posts, since, let's face it, that's boring, and this blog is about fun shtuff. BAD pain this morning, migraine, and tramadol made me feel so droopy. Imitrex made me even more drowsy. Lying down has been painful lately, sitting has always been a challenge, and I was too tired to stand. Fun Fun. I was finally able to get in a decent position and take a brief nap. I feel better, but still drowsy. Pain is back to "normal."No more tramadol. I think it masked the pain and let me overdo it. One day I'll compile a list of all the drugs, doctors, and treatments I've tried that failed.
I always wonder about what I could accomplish without the pain.
