Pick Your Own Farms near San Antonio, TX

For all the fruits and vegetables I can't grow on my own, I'd like to be able to pick them fresh from the plant.  They taste sooooo much better that way!  So, I'm compiling a list of places within a day trip time frame from San Antonio, TX.

pickyourown.org is a site with lots of pick your own farms.  However, the website itself is not terribly user friendly or up to date.  So I'm going to create my own little list and a map here from farms listed there and other places.

Seasons and Crops

Feb-April
strawberries
May-June blackberries
lavender
peaches
July blackberries
lavender
peaches
apples
figs
August peaches
figs
Sep-Oct persimmons

Unfortunately, these are the only crops with pick your own places near San Antonio.  I really would like blueberries.  That'll have to be a longer trip, though.
If I'm missing any great ones, please let me know!

  1. Thank you for identifying these great farms and summarizing it so well.
Made a trip to Markley farms (04/04/2015), they have a decent supply of strawberries for pick your own and some fresh veggies (carrots, beets and Swiss chard) that you can buy.

  2. Do we get an opportunity to pick from our own hands and buy it later , i am looking for apple hand picking not only to eat but also to feel by picking up directly from tree
