Activities and Resources for Senior Citizens in San Antonio


I've got a new job!  I am going to be an elder companion for a lady here in San Antonio.  Since I already do a lot of fun schtuff that seniors do, this will be perfect for me.

My first task is to find some interesting and fun schtuff for us to do together.  I thought I'd share what I found.  Most of this is in North San Antonio, but I've got links if you want to delve into other parts of town...

Games that involve concentration, reasoning, problem solving, memory, information processing and focus will stimulate brain cells and keep neural pathways functioning. Borrow games or bring your own.  - unstructured play.

Full House Club

Playing card games can help keep adult minds active by learning playing strategies and using math skills. Reservations required, call Sonny Charles (210) 344-9903 for a seat at the table.

Fit 4 Life
M-F , Time: 11-11:45 am
This class is designed specifically for moderately active seniors and focuses on strength, balance, flexibility, endurance and promotes independence in aging.  Most exercises performed in a seated in a chair.

Seniors, with their trained pets, can visit hospice patients to return that sense of purpose and fulfillment.

Pets must past behavior test.  Humans must pass tuberculosis test.

The Classic Theatre - San Antonio

Sweet Adelines International local chapter. We are an all female group that sings Barbershop Quartet style as four part harmony. We welcome females of all ages who like to have fun. Check us out and you'll find we're a hoot!

SA Visual and Performing Arts
Revolves around the San Antonio arts community in and near the Downtown area. We visit museums and galleries, studios, theaters, and other visual and performing arts venues. And we also get together just to enjoy one another's company.

Lately, we've been doing some more interesting and socially valuable events, such as the current theme of visiting important parts of San Antonio's infrastructure and business community.

We visit cafes, bistros, bakeries and distinctive restaurants around San Antonio for brunch, lunch, occasional dinners and specialty events.

Musical Bridges Around the World
We produce world-class jazz, classical, and ethnic folk musical and performing arts concerts in San Antonio in multiple locations around San Antonio, including the historical San Fernando Cathedral in the heart of downtown and the McAllister Auditorium at San Antonio College.  Our guest artists travel from and are famous all over the world.

Both the event and convenient covered parking are free.


The businesses and organizations that serve seniors and their families and caregivers are well-represented at Silver Solutions, as are experts and scientists in the field of aging and other associated fields.

Attendees can schedule appointments in the "Ask the Expert" area with specialists in geriatric medicine, audiology, cardiology, endocrinology, neurology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, psychiatry and men’s and women’s health. Additionally, scientists will be available to speak about nutrition, Alzheimer’s, and healthy aging. On-site demonstrations feature fitness and at-home care.
