How to Make the Good Ranch Dressing

Good Ranch Dressing Recipe
Let's face it.  It seems like every ranch dressing is different, and there are some bad ones out there. I'm going to give you the secret to a phenomenal recipe that will make your friends say, "Oooo, you've got the good ranch!" (And my favorite - it's cheap, too!)

Ingredients

Servings: 24
Yield: Dry mix makes about 4 batches. Each batch is 24 T of finished dressing.

Dry mix:

Good Ranch Dressing Recipe1 1/2 T salt
2 tsp dried parsley flakes or dried dill
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder

For dressing:

1/2 cup Hellmann's mayonnaise*
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup milk or buttermilk
1 T dry mix
1-2 T minced fresh herbs optional**

Directions

  • Pre-mix the dry ingredients and store in a plastic or glass container at room temperature indefinitely.
  • To make the dressing, thoroughly mix the wet ingredients and add the dry mix.
  • Add herbs if desired.
  • Dressing will firm up in about an hour, but you can eat it right away.
  • Add more milk, buttermilk, or water if it's too thick.
*The mayonnaise makes the difference.  Use Hellmann's.  Other mayonnaises are too sweet and will throw off the flavor.
**Fresh parsley or dill will work to give the dressing a fresh flavor.  A great way to use those garden herbs!

I like to make a double or triple batch and put it in a glass jar in the pantry.  It lasts a long, long time.
